Finally a new phone after my S2 showed signs of failure.

I love NOTE 2.

In fact,  I am loving this big screen and convenience of writing with a stylus so much I think I'll be moving along with the Notes from now on.

The kids love this phone too! ER had been learning to write the alphabet. Hehe. AN uses the stylus for memory games (no particular use for the stylus)

It's so responsive and fast.

New Phone. Soon.

My Samsung Beam was starting to act up again. The projector randomly decides to only show us the Samsung logo instead of what we want to see, hangs a lot, and finally force-closes. I couldn't even use the phone function in the end.

Warranty expires September, and this is the 3rd time I have problems with this model. Not to forget, this is a new phone they replaced my old one with, because they did not have parts (or they probably lied about it, because they first told me my phone was ready for collection when I called in).

At the service center today, Mr Liow was about to request for a new replacement because this phone acts up every 3 months or so. I'll be 'phoneless' if it dies after my warranty expires. I didn't think they would agree to that sort of request.

BUT

We didn't even need to ask. The supervisor came out to explain to us that Samsung is no longer producing parts for Beam (and even production of the set itself had already ceased) and tried to talk us into accepting the latest Galaxy SII as a replacement.

Mr Liow and I looked at each other and almost burst out laughing. I could almost hear him sneering at me through his cheeky grin: "I thought you said this is an impossible and unreasonable request?"

The supervisor went on to explain that the SII comes with the latest android version 3.3, fastest phone with dual core processor, bigger and better screen etc.

We already know. Mr Liow suggested this morning before we came to Samsung, that we trade in this Beam after repairing it for the last time for an SII, or Iphone 5 (MIL was told by M1 staff that it's launching this Oct).

For the time being, they will reset my phone and I'll wait for 2-3 weeks for SII to be available.

I'm going to miss this phone. I really like the projector. AN too. We had been watching shows on the ceiling and once in a while, AN wakes up asking for some light and I'll project my minnie mouse wallpaper on the ceiling to cheer her up.

But the projector is the main problem of this phone. We were told many owners complain of grainy protected images. I've yet to encounter that.

It's a pity. I sure hope there will be another phone with a projector in future. But by then, AN will be older and probably doesn't want to snuggle up with me for shows anymore...

For now, I'm looking forward to receiving my new phone which seems to be very responsive when I explored the demo set. AN will get a projector phone in future and I will snuggle up with her whether she likes it or not. Hehe.

I like Android lah. It's more exciting than the Iphone, but seemingly less stable. I hope this latest version doesn't disappoint.

Phone is Back

Took them only 3 working days this time. Have I mentioned the last time I sent in my phone for servicing, it took more than 1 week and when I called to ask if it was ready after waiting for that long, the customer service guy told me my phone had been repaired but it wasn't indicated in their system where it was. Meaning: they lost my phone after repairing it.

After 2 days of locating it, they called to tell me that they would be giving me a brand new set because they had 'no parts' to replace the failed component. I suspected they lost my phone, but that is fine with me. Hehe.

This time, I guess all that happened to it was, some program I installed didn't go well with it. It didn't take them long.

The best part was, my pictures are all intact!! I was prepared to lose all those photos and videos because the phone wouldn't power on and I would not be able to back up those media files before turning it in for repairs. And I was informed that I would lose those data.

The technician who brought my phone back to life must have heard God ask him to leave my files alone, because not a single picture is missing.

I'm so happy. Hehe. They are ALL safely in my external SD card now. I wish there's a way to have pictures taken, saved directly into my SD instead of my phone memory..doesnt seem to have a setting for me to make that happen.

Hmm...

But one step at al time. At least my photos are all back too!

Phone in hospital

My phone is finally sent in for a full body checkup. There had been various problems with it: rainbow lines on the screen, terribly slow reponse, auto shutdown, and now the camera is nt working. Before my warranty expires, I suppose I should send it in for a checkup, get some treatment if necessary, before I have to start spending on 'medical services' for it.

Am now using my SE W800 again. This has been my most faithful phone by far. Everytime a new phone falls sick, this one is always operationally ready.

Have to wait for 5 days at least, before I get to meet my Beam again.

I'm having diarrhea now :( And I don't know why. Had been taking Lactoforte today, my second packet just 15 mins ago. M&m Ma, can I just empty the whole packet into my mouth? I just did coz I like its taste. hehe. Also, can I take it even when I'm not having diarrhea?

Mr Liow is recovering from his conjunctivitis. Left eye is still red but less swollen and doesn't hurt that much anymore. As of now, none of us caught it from him. That should mean it's non infectious right?

It's Wednesday tomorrow. Time flies. AN is recovering too. She specifically wanted to tell me after school today, that she did not have sweets or chocolates but I didn't go fetch her because I was at Samsung service centre.

By the time I got to my parents' place, she was napping. Still, the moment she opened her eyes and saw me, she smiled and excitedly told me she did not have those stuff in school before falling asleep again. My dear dear dear girl. I MUST MUST make it a point to keep my anger under control. She deserves none of my outbursts :(

ER is fully recovered, finally! Again I have to marvel at the wonders of BM. He's very young but each time both fall into the hands of the Flu or Cold virus, ER ends up recovering sooner.

Am keeping my fingers crossed that both will be completely well for at least 2 weeks. That's all I ask. Please?

Amoled Screen, Nice.

Am finding reasons to be happy with my Galaxy Beam. It's not a silly phone, but it can be sooo laggy at times I feel like banging it back to life again.

Was reading my blog with my old pal, iPod touch II and wondering if it's good or bad news that there's a very very notable difference in the screens of the 2 devices: the amoled screen of my Beam shows such vibrant colours that when I see the green colour (in particular) on my blog with my iPod touch now, I feel somewhat uncomfortable. The green here looks washed out compared to that on my beam.

But the iPod touch is so super responsive my android feels .... like a preschooler who gets stuck when staring at numbers greater than 20..

But my android is unique.. I have spent many nights while nursing the then-newborn ER customizing it (androids are customizable) and it's almost impossible to find another beam that's identical.

Why am I comparing Apple and Android now when I have a 4 year old with high fever whom I'm suppsednto he caring for? I also don't know. Am just suddenly hoping I can find something with Apple's responsiveness combined with Android's screen and flexibility...how nice. Hehe. That will give blogging mummies who rely on smartphones to update friends and readers on what's going on each day, additional options to include media without lagging. Hehe.
