Cheeky Boy

AN accidentally kicked me and apologised: "Sorry mama."

ER: "Sorry mama."

Me to ER: "Jie jie said sorry coz she kicked mummy. Why did you have to say sorry?"

My boy, lifted his leg towards my belly, gave me a light kick and a cheeky smile: "There. Sorry mama."

Funny Baby

Little boy woke up the same time as AN, so after she left for school, I brought him for a morning walk to Punggol Park.

It's past nap time and he's still not sleepy. I'm dozing off.

Since he's not sleepy, I said I'll make milk for him. He said he didn't want. I insisted on milk because he insisted: "Than Than don't want sleep."

Finally he caved and decided: "Than Than don't want milk. Than Than sleep."

But....

"Than Than poo poo! mummy change diaper."

Sigh....

He laid really still after I changed him and he repeated: "Than Than don't want milk. Than Than sleep."

I went out to throw his diaper, came back to find him missing and playing with MIL's new fan in the next room.

He saw me and got a shock (he looked irresistibly cute when he looked at me with wide eyes!). And he went: "Uh oh! Ok, Than Than go sleep NOW!" He emphasized "NOW!" And hurriedly scrambled back to his room.

I didn't even utter a word. And I felt like laughing.

This funny boy.....

P.S: He's still not sleeping. His excuse: "Than Than wants Animal Book!" And he starts showing off his animal recognition skill. At times like these, I don't usually they stop, unless it's past 11pm on weekday's night.

Descriptive

We were lying belly down, looking through ER's favorite Animal Book when he looked up, pointed at my cleavage and exclaimed excitedly: "I see TUNNEL! A TUNNEL!"

Most Number of Syllabus

The longest sentence ER has spoken this far that's also coherent as well: "I wanna drink water."

Finally, a proper sentence!

Decoding Baby Talk

ER had been saying "I b you" for weeks now. Each time he does, he runs after AN with a 'weapon' (anything from lego to pillow). AN runs away screaming for help and I'll have to remind him that beating is wrong!

*sweats*

Then I noticed when he does that with his toys, he merely points the 'weapon' at the non-moving victims and warns: "I b you!"

He had only been mimicking sounds of a gunshot (& obviously not doing it well..). He was not threatening "I beat you".

*phew*

I told AN that yesterday and she stopped running away from him and realized for herself that he hadn't been running after her to beat her afterall. She's less afraid of him when he goes "I b you" now.

Just a while ago, he pointed at a sponge they used for painting and went: "My I b you!"

Ah.....is "I b you" what he calls a gun? I've never taught him about guns. It's now time to teach him "I b you" is called a gun.

And I had been worried that he had been so mean lately.

*heaves sighs of relief*

ER at 2 Year Old

Baby boy likes to ask questions:

"what chu doing?" (What are you doing?)
"where you going?"
"are you ok?"
"wat ahpen?" (what happen?)
"what zat" (what's that?).
"where zit?" (where is it?)
"where eee go?" (where did 'insert object' go?)
"zit painfoo?" (is it painful?)
"what zis?" (what's this?)
"You see zat?" (Do you see that?)

He's quite a chatterbox. We don't always understand his language but we get by if we observe him hard enough. He usually speaks and acts out his requests.

He's a drama baby

"Argh! So painfoo! OUCH!". All that dramatic exclamations because the tag from behind his t-shirt scratched him.

"UH! OH NO!"
Because mummy dropped a table cloth onto the floor.

"Sowee! Are you ok? Zit painfoo?" (Sorry, are you ok? Is it painful?"
He accidentally stepped on my toes.

"Argh!!!"
Just to warn us about his idea of something dangerous.

Runs hurriedly and jumps into us cupping his ears: "Listen! You hear zat?"
A plane just flew past.

He's also learning to take instructions with repetition. It helps when he recognises what it means to wait (but I have to keep my promise that waiting means he gets to do it, but later. Different from 'No'.)

I love how he'll pick stray items from the floor as he passes them by, and  puts them back where they belong, or into the table.

He's feeling better now. And when he's well, he's irresistibly cute (in his mummy's books at least).

There are also terrible times. He's still learning afterall, and definitely not eloquent yet.

I'm soaking up his innocent cute-ness while it lasts. AN is already maturing in thoughts. Someday ER will too, and by then, I'll only get to envy others who are struggling with their 2 year olds.

My Toddler

ER is a happy boy, but when he is not too happy, he cries. That is normal.

Recently, he's confusing us. He knocks his head, starts bawling a little before he starts laughing (and crying at the same time, but laughing more than he is crying). He gets told off firmly by either of us but starts laughing as if we were playing with him.

He laughs a lot. Especially when AN is with him.

His laughter tickles us, especially AN. Both of them ends up laughing non-stop over a tiny joke, a wierd sound, even a strand of hair.

Even when he gets hurt accidentally when they play, he laughs.

I enjoy the laughter but worries at the same time if ER is ok. Because when it hurts, it's instinctive to cry, isn't it?

I'll go read up a little on it.

That aside, he's starting to call me "mummy" since early this week. He had been calling me "mama" till one day, he observed how AN called me "mummy".

The way he pronounces "mummy" is super pleasant to my ears.

He goes "PLEASE!" with a raised palm whenever he wants us to stop disturbing him. Sometime he goes "STOP!"

He's picking up words and learning at a tremendous speed. Just a one-hour session of piecing alphabet puzzles yesterday and he picked up letters "x" and "b". He recognised "o" couple of weeks back and he remembered it yesterday.

He hides things and goes "where jit?" (where is it), pulls me up when he's ready to get out of bed and says: "lej go" (let's go!).

He understands better too. I asked him to lie down with jie jie in the room while I dump his soiled diapers and he did. My dad wondered if he understood. I wasn't sure too but let my baby try interpret the instructions. The grandfather was impressed and proudly updated the grandmother hours later. They keep saying kids these days are so smart. I think we must have been pretty dumb when young. Hehe.

Mr Liow will be leaving for USA again tomorrow night and be away for a week. We'll all camp over at my parents' place. Time passes fast with kids around. He'll be home before we know it. :)

Weekend Burnt :(

I'm having fever now. And it's saturday.

Wierd thing is, I feel unwell but fever isn't too high. And I feel nauseous. Not a sign of morning sickness, I hope? Lol!

It was ER who told me I was having a fever yesterday. He was riding on me and when his legs touched my exposed waist, he stopped and bent over to me, saying: "hot hot" while touching his face.

His body temperature felt low and I thought HE was feverish again (it happens that after his temperature drops whenever he's unwell, it shoots up soon after).

I took his temperature and thank God he's fine..I pretended to be sick and took my temperature, only to realise I was 38°c.

He had been trying to tell me that I felt "hot" when he touched me.

That was cute.

When I told him I'm sick, he went "aww..." and patted me lightly.

So sweet. AN was the same at this age.

How I wish they do not grow up....

Missed Call

I was checking ER's lunch in the kitchen when he started calling out: "mama! Mama!"

I came out and saw him smiling at me, carefully holding my phone with both hands and towards me. I took it and saw 1 missed call!

So cute! He must have heard the viBration (was on silent) and recognised that mummy needs to have the phone when it vibrates.

Already when he heard it ring yesterday, he went "ay?", stopped everything he was doing and started looking around. He stood next to the dining table and pointed at it while calling "mama!". My phone was ringing on the dining table and I was excited to realise he is growing more aware of his surrounding.

So cute....

What's this?

ER had been baby-talking a lot for the past couple of months. These recent weeks, we sort of make out words like "mum", "dad", "papa" and "mum mum".

How do we tell "mum" and "mum mum" apart? This boy, when he's calling out to me (mum), either points at me, stretches out his arms towards me, or stares straight at me. When he's talking about food (mum mum), he goes chomp chomp chomp, opening and shutting his mouth. And he smiles (how I love his smiles. awww...)

This morning, my brother connected his ipad to the TV and when ER saw a big logo appear right in front of him on the TV, he pointed at it and sounded like he was asking: "What this?"

I thought it was cute that he sounded as if he knew what he was asking and didn't think Andy heard his blabbering the way I heard it but he did and asked if ER is talking already. He said he heard ER asking what that was.

2nd time ER said those words today, I was playing peekaboo with him using my finger. I stuck my finger out from under a chair and he stared seriously at it before letting out the "what this?"

Told my mum and again, we agreed it was coincidental. It had to be similar sounds he was making that sounded like those words.

And then, while mum was playing with him (he was messing up a pack of diapers), he found something hiding among the diapers that didn't look like a diaper. He held it up and asked my mum: "what this?"

It was freaky how he spoke those words 3 times today. Did he really say them? Or were they just sounds?

Was adorable though, and we answered him as though he really asked. One step nearer to being able to speak. Our boy is growing.

Baby, please slow down. I've not had enough of you and AN but your jie jie is already thinking of who she wants to marry...please don't grow up so fast.
